At St. Mark’s, generations of alumni have shown their affection for the School by making a planned gift. When they so provide for the School, they become members of the Androcles Society, and their connection to the School deepens still further. For many, it is the best way to express their appreciation for those teachers, parents, and classmates who fill their memories of the School. At the same time, it allows them to make a profound difference to St. Mark’s future—ensuring that it will stand at the forefront of small boarding schools.
Making provisions in wills or codicils is a relatively simple process. Many St. Markers have already done so, and many more are actively exploring it. Such giving has, in fact, occurred over the School’s 150 years and has made a tremendous difference to the School.
Members of the Androcles Society receive a special lapel pin, which they wear to School events and on any visit to campus. St. Mark’s invites Androcles members to special events, to major School activities, and more. A favorite is the annual Festival of Lessons and Carols at Christmas time. In addition, Androcles members receive occasional “behind the scenes” communications to further connect them to the School they cherish.
